General Description

History

Turkish Language Education Undergraduate Program started in 1999.

Qualification Awarded

Turkish Language Education undergraduate diploma is given when graduated from this program.

Specific Admission Requirements

To apply for Turkish Language Education Undergraduate Program, applicants must have a high school diploma and get enough points at LYS(Placement Examination for Universities).

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

If students get enough points at an exemption examination, they can be exempt from the module. But exemption examinations are not done for all modules.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To graduate and get diploma from Turkish Language Education Undergraduate Program , students must complete all modules successfully and have at least 2.00(/4.00) grade point average.

Profile of The Programme

The aim of the Turkish Language Teaching programme is to prepare Turkish language teachers who have all the qualifications required by the teaching profession in terms of knowledge, skills and character; who give importance to their country, nation, human and moral values; who are able to develop their students’ language skills with all that they have learned from the field of Turkish language learning; who are open to development; and who are sensitive to cultural and social issues.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates of the Turkish Language Education Undergraduate Program are assigned as teachers if they get enough points from KPSS(The Public Personnel Selection Examination). Also they can work as teachers at private schools and other training providers. In addition to these they can be academicians if they lay down conditions.

Access to Further Studies

School leavers can continue as graduate students if they qualify in selection.

Facilities

There are two associate professors, six assistant professors, two lecturers and a research assistant. Also there is a Turkish language teaching classroom.

Knowledge

  • To be well informed in the essential topics in teching profession such as classroom management, testing and evaluation, educational psychology, technology and material use, teaching principles and methods, and about the laws that regulade the activities in educational institutions.
  • To have know academically about description of language, basic concepts of grammar and linguistics, features of World languages, structural and historical features of Turkish language, sound and its changes, suffix and ending, word groups, sentence and its components, sentence forms and types
  • To have know academically Literature knowledge and theories, Classic, Mystic, Folk and New Literature, World literature.

Skills

  • To be well-informed and gain the necessary skills regarding the methods and tecniques in teaching the secondary school learners the Turkish language and literature and the skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing.

  • To be able to make decisions buy taking responsibilities in the complex professional activity condition.

  • To have know Turkish teaching activities, teaching methods and techniques to adapt to students with special needs and special educational needs
  • To be able to show that they can continue to work intepentently at a higher level.

  • To have the ability to use communicating tecnology, data processing, computer’s hardware and software, at the required level of Turkish education.
  • To have to cooperate with various institutions and organizations of opinion about the competence of Ataturk and the Turkish language and national values, reflecting the views of families in the regulation of specific activities
  • To be able to use Turkish education’s knowledge and To have a foreing gramer with the aim of communicating with co-worker.
