General Description

History

Established within the Faculty of Education of Abant İzzet Baysal University, has begun its education and training in 1994 at license level to cultivate music educators needed by our country for primary and secondary schools. Graduated first students of this programme in 1998 Division of Music Teacher Training was changed as Department of Music Teacher Training due to the restructuring held by Higher Education Council at the same year. In the begining of the educational year, approximately 30 students are chosen with an examination on talent and abilities for licence education. All the students graduates with music teacher titles.

Specific Admission Requirements

a) At least 165,000 for the canditates graduted from division of music in high schools, job training high schools and art training high schools b) 185,000 and more for the cantidates graduated from different divisions of high schools written above has to be obtained in Licence Entrance Exam.

To complete 8 terms of education process with success, to fulfill the adequacies of pedagogic formation, to have enough knowlegde about music culture and music history, to develop enough abilities for instrument performance

Profile of The Programme

Process of programme is four years. The programme includes 163 credits. This programme is carried out as both theoretical and practical. There are 2 professors, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 10 lecturers and 3 research assistants in the programme

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Exams consist of at least 1 term examination and a final exam. Exams might include performance, presentation, projects, evaluating portfolios, group evaluation, research, observation and written exams according to the characteristics of the lesson. In evaluations and assessments process and product assessment is featured as well as music culture, common culture and educational sufficiency

Graduation Requirements

To complete 163 credits by taking necessary and selective lessons in the program and to come at 2.00 academic degree.

Facilities

It includes licence, master and doctorate programs. Education-Training is carry out in 4 classrooms which are placed in the floors of Faculty of Education for collective lessons and totally 40 instrument rooms with 36 acoustic and electronic piano which belong to this programme, totally . In the blue and pink holes of İzzet Baysal Arts Centre concert activites are held.
