General Description

History

Computer Education and Instructional Technology departments were opened by Higher Education Council (YOK) for the first time in 1998 within the framework of the restructuring of the faculties of education.

Qualification Awarded

Graduates of the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology get the title of computer and instructional technology teacher and they serve as a teacher of computer and instructional technology in the first and secondary schools.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are placed in the undergraduate program by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM), according to the ratings they get in the Student Selection Exam (OSS).

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology, started education in 2005-2006. Currently, an Associate Professor, 3 Assistant Professors and 1 Research Assistant are on duty in the department. To graduate, students must complete successfully all the courses they had taken and at least 2.00 GPA and must be provided.

Profile of The Programme

The courses in the program are classified as mandatory, field knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, general knowledge and practice. In addition, students receive elective courses. The courses are given both theoretically and practically.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology graduates can work as a teacher of computer and instructional technology in private and state schools under the Ministry of National Education.

Access to Further Studies

Computer Education and Instructional Technology Department students can continue their graduate programs after graduation.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

According to the contents of classes, the students take 1 or 2 midterms, complete assignments and projects, make presentations and take a final exam at the end of the period.

Graduation Requirements

The normal duration of the undergraduate program is 4 years. In order to graduate, students should take all courses in the program, should be successful in these courses and should provide at least 2.00 GPA.

Facilities

Computer Education and Instructional Technology Department has 3 computer labs. Approximately 35 computers in each lab with an Internet connection and a projection device are available. Practical courses in the program are conducted in these laboratories. The courses with theoretical content in the program are given in the other technology-supported environments or classrooms.
