AIBU Mathematics department has been started its activities in 1994-1995 academic year with 34 undergraduate students. Since 1996-1997 the language of education in our department is English. Our student attend one (1) year of English preparation course and four (4) years of undergraduate courses.

Qualification Awarded

Mathematician

Specific Admission Requirements

Qualifying exams (YGS and LYS). Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year. Side-branch or a double major facilities are available.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Profile of The Programme

The department has the following majors: Topology, Algebra and Number Theory, Analysis, Aplied Mathematics and Geometry. The department has 1 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 8 Assistant Professors, one Insturctors awarded by Phd, 3 Research Asistants whose one of them is awarded by Phd.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Most of our graduate students, having post graduate education without a thesis, are accepted as teachers at National Education Ministry. Our graduate students also have chances to work both at state and private sectors. Students who are mathematics majors, upon graduation, will be preparted for graduate work, or for careers in teaching.

Access to Further Studies

Student may continue with masters study in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from the science of Mathematics.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

For each course, midterms and one final exam supported by homework and presentations. The number of the midterms is decided by the course teacher. The evaluation and grading is performed under the framework of AIBU Directive of Exams.
