History

The department of Turkish Language and Literature was founded in 2004, and first accepted the students in 2004-2005 academic year.

Graduated from the department of Turkish language and literature (Turkologist)

Specific Admission Requirements

The students are accepted with high school diploma and with the university entrance exam arranged by OSYM.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

In the process undergraduate transfer, the requirements and quota are valid declared in the regulations of A.I.B.U. An adaption program is applied for the students coming through undergraduate transfer.

Profile of The Programme

The aims of the department are literary and philological evaluation of the texts of Turkish Language and Literature from the very beginning to the modern ones, and so to teach the importance of these works in the process of formation and development of Turkish culture at an academic level, and to educate the students as scientists, experts and teachers needed by the state by endowing them with the extensive knowledge on Turkish Language and Literature.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The students who graduate from the department can be hired as teachers by the Ministery of National Education and by the other private education institutions. In addition, they can be employed by Ministry of Culture or at other ministries, TRT, private television and radio institutions, Turkish Language Institute and by the archives of the state or private institutions.

Access to Further Studies

The students who graduate from the department can apply graduate programs of Turkish Language and Literature, and they can even apply graduate programs of some other social sciences.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Tests generally consist of a mid-term and a final exam, besides homework or oral presentations are used. Evaluations are made within the testing regulations of A.I.B.U.

Facilities

There totally 120 desktop computers in 3 computer laboratories and these can be used by the students when the school is open. A.B.I.U. is a member of 63 electronic databases, also it is subscribed to 54 periodicals publishing articles in social sciences.
