General Description

History

The Department of Environmental Engineering of Faculty of Engineering & Architecture of Abant Izzet BAYSAL University was founded in 2007.

Qualification Awarded

You will be granted a degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Engineering on a successful completion of the Department.

Specific Admission Requirements

Placement by the Student Selection Exams (YGS and LYS) of the Center of Student Selection and Placement (OSYM) is required.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

The diploma awarded by the high school in sealed form should be submitted to the registrar of AIBU and OSYM), and other relevant documents such as fee payment receipt, photographs, residence address document, and ID should also be submitted during registration upon request of the registrar.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Before registering to the Department of Environmental Engineering, students can attend to foreign language education in the Foreign Language Preparatory School of Abant Izzet BAYSAL University for a year if they wish to.

Profile of The Programme

Currently, there exist a total of 150 students (74 females and 76 males), 7 faculty members, 3 research assistants and a secretary at the Department of Environmental Engineering.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Upon graduation, students are most likely to find jobs in all the environment-related private and public sectors ranging from municipalities to industrial managements.

Access to Further Studies

Students may pursue M.S. and Ph.D. studies in collaboration with the Department upon graduation.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Exams performed generally consist of at least one mid-term and a final exam, along with take-home assignments, oral presentations, term papers, and field studies.

Graduation Requirements

A successful completion of 150 local credits (240 ECTS) is essential so as to reach a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 2.0/4.0. Students are expected to enroll in 12 optional courses or more as electives (60 ECTS), corresponding to a minimal of 25% of the courses offered by the Department. Following finals in two weeks at the end of each semester, there is no final examination at the end of an academic year, or at the end of the study program. Students are required to have successfully completed an internship period of 60 working days in related sectors before graduation. In addition, students are to conduct a senior thesis in the last year.

Facilities

There exist two laboratories equipped with IC, GC, UV-spectrophotometer, spectroradiometer, eddy covariance, water quality sondas, flowmeter, auto sampler, solar radiation sensors, and PAR sensors.

  • Graduate can select and apply up-to-date techniques and tools fort he engineering applications. Can use information technology very efficiently.
