General Description

History

Faculty of Theology has been opened with decision published in Official Gazette No. 28244 dated 03/25/2012 2012/2852 no.

Qualification Awarded

Theology program is 240 ECTS credits, first cycle degree system subjected to. When the program is completed successfully and the program qualifications are provided, Bachelor's Degree in Theology is received.

Specific Admission Requirements

Student placement process is made according to the results of YGS-4 and Higher Education Examination organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center. In addition, students are able to be accepted through Foreign Student Selection Examination (YÖS), special student admission procedure and transition.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

"Higher Education Associate Degree and Degree-Level Regulations Concerning" provisions is applied. As students, who have taken some classes before in any education institutions, present a transcript , they have exemptions from equivalent classes.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In orderr to start this program, the student has to successfully complete the Arabic Preparatory Class. Students who provide evidence taken 60 point in the last three years from the Civil Personnel Foreign Language Proficiency Exam accepted correspondingly by the University Senate and have attended and completed successfully the Compulsory Arabic Preparatory Class of a theology faculty belonging to another university in Turkey before or have taken 65 point from an Arabic Proficiency Exam made by any theology faculty have exemption and are able to take regular classes. In order to take undergraduate degree in theology, students are supposed to complete the compulsory and elective classes all (equavelent to 240 AKTS in sum) and overall GPA of 4.00 is to be at least 2.0.

Profile of The Programme

This program will allow you to be informed on the basic required classes in the field of theology, alongside a comprehensive range of elective classes are also available. These courses are planned from viewpoint of coordinating among scientific disciplines. Generally, elective classes designed as project-based would be able to replicate in terms of students' interests, needs and desires depending on new developments.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The graduates who have completed the theology program are able to be assigned to high schools as teachers of religious culture and ethic and high school of İmam-Hatip as teacher of vocational classes after they take formation training classes from outside. In addition, they are able to work as religious officials (mufti, preacher, imam, muezzin, Quran Course tutorial) within the Department of Religious Affairs, and take the duty as academics in universities serve as civil servants and managers in public and private organizations.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates of the Faculty of Theology is able to attend graduate program as they take an adequate point at Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) and the Interuniversity Foreign Language Examination (UDS). In addition, they are able to apply for graduate programs of universities with or without thesis.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

In order to be successful in the preparatory class , the student is required to attend and this is determined according to the basis of this academic year . Attendance of a student is required at least %80 of total annual class hours. Final grade of a student who has absence more than %20 of total class hours are calculated “0” (zero). The final grade of a student is calculated by adding %40 of grades of two semesters and %60 of final grade. A student is required to take 60 or over point of 100 so that he/she is able to be acknowledged as successful. In order to be acknowledged as successful, a student who has “0” (zero) at semi-grade is requred to take at least 65 or over point of 100 at final grade. Each students required to attend classes at least %70 in order to register to the classes in the beginning of the semester and take the final exam. In order to be successful of intermediate class students, the final grade consists of mid-term and final exam results. For mid-term eveluation, each student takes at least a mid-term and a final exam, and if a student fails, he/she take an one-up exam. Mid-term evaluation contributes to 40% of the final grade, and the final exam contributes to 60% of final grade. In the conversion of final grades from the 100 system to letter system, the chart of Abant Izzet Baysal University Undergraduate Education Since 14 of the Regulations Concerning the Examination and Assessment is used.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from Theology faculty, a student is to complete successfully all courses (240 ECTS) existed in the programs, to achieve the overall grade point average (GANO) of 4.00 at least 2.0, and the graduation thesis must be completed.

Facilities

There are 1 Professor, 29 Assistant Professors, 2 lecturers, 3 Instructor, 3 Research Assistant in the Faculty of Theology. There are administrative and technical services units, classrooms, computer classrooms, seminar rooms, internet room, faculty room, canteen, library and information processing center in the faculty building. Scholarship opportunities are available. There is also the Faculty Practice Mosque.
