Primary Education Master Program


History


Primary Education Master's Program began in 2016.


Qualification Awarded


The Master’s Degree in Elementary School Education (ElemanteryTeaching) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully fulfilled all programme requirements.


Specific Admission Requirements


The general achievement score for all candidates who apply to this programs is calculated by the candidate assessment judges by taking the %50 of ALES the %10 of the CGPA of undergraduate program the %10 of the foreign language exam and the %30 of the entrance exam into account. Candidates are put in an order of achievement and accepted within the limits of the contingency. The admission requirement details a candidate should provide are stated in AİBÜ Regulations on Graduate Studies Article.


Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)


The rules for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. A student who is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree programme in the same discipline at another institution and has successfully completed at least one semester, upon submitting all required documents before the deadline, may transfer to the Master's Programme at University upon the recommendation of the department administration and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations


The programme consists of a minimum of seven courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, one seminar course, and thesis, with a minimum of 21 local credits. The seminar course and thesis are non-credit and graded on a pass/fail basis. The duration of the programme is four semesters. The maximum period to complete course work in a masters program with thesis is 4 semesters. However, with the approval of their advisors, students can in subsequent semesters take additional departmental courses with or without credits. The total ECTS credits of the programme is 120 ECTS.


Profile of The Programme


The aim of this programme is educating the graduate students equipped with the necessary knowledge of the field; valuing the scientific and professional ethics; improving himself for recent developments in science and technology; carrying on the research and projects in educational sciences by using scientific research methods, following national and international literature of the field; and internalizing lifelong learning.


Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples


Students who get a degree of master in Primary Education are able to work in private and state primary schools organized under National Ministry of Education.


Access to Further Studies


Graduates who successfully completed the Master's Degree may apply to doctorate (third cycle) programmes in the same or in related disciplines.


Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading


Students are required to take a mid-term examination and/or complete other assigned projects/homework during the semester and, additionally, are required to take a final examination and/or complete a final project for course evaluation.


Graduation Requirements


The graduate students in this master program must complete a minimum of 21 local credits (7 courses), a seminar course and a thesis; they must be successful in all of the courses with a minimum achievement grade of CB, must have completed 120 ECTS credits and have scored a minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 to qualify for graduation.

Facilities


2 professors, 4 associate professor, 5 assistant professors have been working in Primary Education Department. There are fourty classrooms, five computer labs, three science labs (one physics lab, one chemistry lab and one biology lab ) lab and projections in each class and labs in Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Education classroom building.
